One of our Founder Feroza had a vision to initiate a platform where quality education for underprivileged children should be made possible. The journey started with 30 students in a one room school in Noorani Basti, Korangi, Karachi, which she had rented from her personal money.
The locality was so poor that the school soon received further registrations of 94 children wishing to get education from Educate Pakistan School, but due to lack of resources it wasn’t possible to accommodate them. Feroza arranged enrollment of these students in other charity/Government schools by 2012. The remaining problem was the logistics which require money and time and particularly for female student was a matter of safety due to presence of drugs addicted people on roads and around local markets on the way to govt. schools. As a result, their families restricted them to attend schools.
With the efforts of our Patron-in-Chief (Mansoor Rizvi) in 2012, a kind person who took keen interest in opening the channels/opportunities of education for underprivileged children. He contacted and convinced a philanthropist ,who is a tenured banker in the UAE, to start supporting the program to accommodate further deserving students. Thankfully so, this noble God fearing person agreed to provide funds to run the school.
Since then this school is running on 100% charity and have become the popular school in the vicinity. The continued efforts of our Patron-in-chief, Ms Feroza, Ms Arzoo and the dedicated school teachers who are providing individual attention to every student towards personality development as well as extended counseling and confidence building sessions with students. Today our sponsors hold full trust in us and believe that investment in Education is truly an investment in the future of this country.
Currently 125 students are getting free quality Education. Our respected donor Mr. Saeed had also supported the idea to provide an exposure to these students by arranging educational visits to historical sites, museums and national parks. He also emphasized E-Education which has made Educate Pakistan the only school in Noorani Basti where students are taught through modern teaching techniques. Today these children have become leading role models in their area and lead an awareness campaign about basic rights, civic responsibilities as well as health and hygiene.
This journey is never ending due to the poor socio-economic condition of the country. The government machinery is helpless in terms of bringing drastic and effective changes to ensure affordable education for every Pakistani citizen.
We are in desperate need of help from the community to further improve the school and increase enrollment as there is growing demands of free education due to meager income of the parents. Currently the school is in a small house located in the same locality where people who are living below the poverty line exhibit. The owner of the building is intending to sell the building soon and is already taking action. The only solution to retain it, is to buy it but this requires around $20,000. The location of this school is also crucial because of the lack of safety and many other factors as mentioned above , please come forward and help the school collect this amount by mid 2018.
